What is WebP useful for?

WebP is an image format designed for the web. It can often make photos and graphics smaller, helping pages load faster. Results depend on the original image and your quality setting.

Will my PNG keep its transparent background?

Yes. Transparency is preserved, and the image keeps its original pixel dimensions. This tool does not resize your images.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Image conversion and ZIP creation happen in your browser. Images are held temporarily for preview and download. Clear the batch or close the page when you are finished.

Does quality 100 mean lossless?

No. This converter uses your browser’s WebP quality setting, not a dedicated lossless mode. Keep the originals when exact pixels, color profiles or metadata matter; metadata is not preserved by this tool.

Why is my WebP bigger than the original?

Some images are already highly compressed. Try a lower quality setting and click Convert again. We show the actual size change even when the new image is larger.

Can I convert GIF, HEIC or animated images?

This version supports still JPG and PNG images only. GIF, HEIC and animated PNG are not supported.

Why are there size limits?

Conversion uses your device’s memory. Limits and one-at-a-time processing help keep the page responsive. If a large batch struggles on your device, try fewer or smaller images.
